About this event

The A-LIEP conference is a biennial event (with some exceptions) and this will be the 10th iteration and the first virtual event.

The conference theme is: Crossroads of Information, Human Rights, Social Justice and Equality.

The theme is inspired by current circumstances in various parts of the world where lack of information or abuse of information has given rise to injustices, misinformation has misled people on political, economic, or health concerns, and censorship and control of the narrative by the powerful has hindered social and political progress. These raise questions about the appropriate roles of LIS educators and professionals in an interconnected world where improper use of information, social and pervasive technologies can have pandemic and endemic consequences. The conference will provide a venue for the discussion of such realizations and issues, and possible solutions in the context of information use, information profession, libraries, LIS education, and LIS research.
