7 Mar BES Drongos Pasir Ris Mangroves Boardwalk
Event Information
About this Event
Situated in the intertidal zone, mangroves are truly unique habitats that constantly teem with life. Curious to learn what makes them such distinctive environments? Ever wanted to discover the types of plants and animals that reside within mangroves?
Look no further, because BES Drongos is proud to take you on a free guided walk into one of the few remaining patches of mangroves in Singapore, as we share with you about the wonders of Pasir Ris Mangroves!
Just sign up, show up and let us do the rest.
Set foot into Pasir Ris Mangroves, a boardwalk trail located to the east of Pasir Ris Car Park C. Consisting entirely of a boardwalk, the trail is suitable for people of all ages.
Note: Apart from Pasir Ris Mangroves, BES Drongos will continue to organise walks on Petai Trail at MacRitchie Reservoir concurrently. As such, there will be 2 simultaneous walks each day – 1 at Pasir Ris and 1 at MacRitchie. Do join us on our MacRitchie walks sometime :)
In line with the current COVID-19 safe distancing measures, each walk can accommodate a maximum of 8 people, consisting of 3 guides and 5 participants.
Length: Approximately 2km
Duration: 2 hours
Meeting time: 8.45am (We begin promptly at 9am.)
Meeting place: Pasir Ris Car Park C Toilet. The nearest bus stop is Opposite Block 500A, served by buses 58, 68, 88, 358, 359, and 518. It is also within walking distance from Pasir Ris MRT Station.
Recommended attire: Long pants and covered walking shoes
Bring: Your own water bottle, umbrella/poncho, insect repellent and cap/hat
*Please avoid bringing plastic bags as the monkeys have learnt to associate them with food! If you must, do keep them out of sight (e.g. in your backpack) from the monkeys when walking the trail. Eating on the trail is also not encouraged.*
In case of wet weather, we may delay the start of the walk and continue if it's a light drizzle, or postpone to another date if unable to proceed. In case of severe haze (i.e. PSI above 100), we will call off the walk and notify you via SMS by 7.30am.
Lastly, if you feel unwell and/or develop flu-like symptoms nearer to the day of the walk, we strongly advise you to rest at home. As such, if you will not be showing up, please inform us by emailing besdrongos@gmail.com or messaging your guide for that day. A reminder email will be sent to you one day before your walk, which contains your lead guide's contact number and other important information. Do look out for it!
For general enquiries only, please email besdrongos@gmail.com or contact 90467337.
Please note that photos taken on the walk may be used for publicity purposes.
