This event is part of the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/events/1942634839215831/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ethos Books Mad Rad Festive Sale</a>, happening on Saturday and Sunday, 30 Nov to 1 Dec!Yep, we can&#x27;t believe it either! Teo You Yenn and Kirsten Han will be interviewing each other in a candid conversation about their work, the craft and labour involved in writing, and perhaps some questions involving cats... Please note that this session will be recorded for the New Naratif podcast, and that if you miss this, that discomfort in your chest is known as regret. About the speakersTeo You Yenn received her PhD in Sociology from the University of California at Berkeley. She is Associate Professor and Provost&#x27;s Chair in Sociology at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She has written journal articles, book chapters, and op-eds. Her work has been published in journals such as Economy and Society, Signs, Social Politics, and Development and Change. She is also the author of Neoliberal Morality in Singapore: How family policies make state and society (Routledge, 2011). Apart from academic writings, she has over the last decade contributed to public debate through public lectures and media commentaries. Her writings have been published in The Straits Times, Today, Channel NewsAsia, Lianhe Zaobao, and New Naratif. She is recipient of NTU’s Nanyang Education Award (2013) and the American Sociological Association Sex and Gender Section’s Feminist Scholar Activist Award (2016). In 2018, for her contributions to igniting a national conversation on poverty and inequality with the book This is What Inequality Looks Like, she was named a Finalist in the Straits Times Singaporean of the Year Award. Her bylines have appeared in publications like The Guardian, Foreign Policy, Asia Times and Waging Nonviolence. As an activist, Kirsten has advocated for an end to the death penalty in Singapore, and is a founding member of abolitionist group We Believe in Second Chances.
