This event is part of the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/events/1942634839215831/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ethos Books Mad Rad Festive Sale</a>, happening on Saturday and Sunday, 30 Nov to 1 Dec!Alfian Sa&#x27;at and Diana Rahim will be discussing how artistic practice and creation is understood in Singapore, and what alternative ways the environment and construction of the Creative can look like. And yes, we can read your mind—they will talk about the recent phenomenal success of Merdeka.About the speakersAlfian Sa’at is a Resident Playwright with W!LD RICE. His published works include three collections of poetry, One Fierce Hour, A History of Amnesia and The Invisible Manuscript, a collection of short stories, Corridor, a collection of flash fiction, Malay Sketches, three collections of plays as well as the published play Cooling Off Day. In 2001, Alfian won the Golden Point Award for Poetry as well as the National Arts Council Young Artist Award for Literature. His plays and short stories have been translated into German, Swedish, Danish and Japanese and have been read and performed in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Brisbane, Melbourne, London, Zürich, Hamburg, Munich, Berlin, Copenhagen and Stockholm.Diana Rahim is currently an editor for Beyond The Hijab, a site sharing stories of Singaporean-Muslim women. Her poetry has appeared in anthologies Kepulauan (2014) and The First Five (2017), amongst others. Her recent essays have been anthologised in Growing Up Perempuan (2018) and Budi Kritik (2018). Her topical interests include feminism, race, Islam, class, and the ways these issues may intersect. She has three cats.
