Description
GLOBAL CLINIC organises mission trips to less developed countries where they focus on providing services that are critical for the general public but are generally overlooked in poorer households because of costs. The first is cataract surgeries, which allow the elderly to function normally without needing extra care; another is general eye care and prescription glasses which the poor may not be able to afford. Another segment is the cleft lip surgical department, which aids children, infants and young adults with cleft lip defects. The problem, which is easily fixed when young, can cause much more serious speech impediments when they grow older. The last is the obstetrics department, which offers women essential gender healthcare.
AUGUSTMAN and MIAJA GALLERY have teamed up to raise sufficient funds for a set of equipment for the team as well as sufficient funds to deliver between 170 and 430 cataract surgeries. Each surgery costs US$100 per eye. The total sum we are aiming to raise is S$100,000 to S$150,000. We’ve come up with a concept: A blind experience, where you can touch, smell, taste hear and see your way through an exhibition that will also include a blind dining experience, as well as a charity art auction
