About the Programme

"Accessing and Aligning your Inner Compass to Power your Facilitation" is a full day programme co-designed by Loh Teck Kwang, Barbara Mackay, Peter Seah & Lyn Wong. It was presented as a full day pre-conference workshop at IAF Conference in Korea in 2017 with good reviews. It will be presented again in IAF Conference in Osaka later this year.

Programme writeup

Every group we facilitate comes with diverse backgrounds, cultures, expectations, experiences, opinions or challenges. How do we as facilitators help diverse groups bridge boundaries so that everyone is heard, connected and able to co-create the outcomes they want? How do we bypass our own biases to ensure neutrality in our facilitation work? What do we need to do & be to stay centered, and flexible when we facilitate diverse groups?

Our inner state as facilitators—our values, strengths, blind spots, and insecurities—ultimately influence how we connect to the group, and how we are “in the moment” with the group. In this session, we seek to identify and magnify the ideal inner core energy that powers our facilitation. We take a journey together to explore what blocks or hinders us from being the best facilitators we can be. We cultivate an enhanced understanding of our values and how they impact the group work we do. Finally, we create our own “compass” and concrete plans to ensure we are adaptable and flexible when we facilitate diverse groups.

If you have 3+ years’ experience facilitating a variety of groups and want to take diverse groups deeper, facilitate past your own biases, and grow deeply in your own practice, this workshop is for you. Three diverse facilitators are your guides for self-reflecting and connecting with others who have a common quest to be catalysts of change.
