About this Programme

In film, a character is defined by action, dialogue, interaction and the all-important wardrobe. Costume design brings a screenplay to life, providing visuals that mimic the real world or conjure imaginary worlds in any time period, past or present. Film Librarian Meryl will be spotlighting Greta Gerwig’s 2019 adaptation of Little Women as well as Netflix’s Bridgerton series created by Chris Van Dusen and explaining how costume design has fittingly complimented the characterisation and mood of these works.

This programme is conducted onsite at library@esplanade. Only 15 seats are allocated, and Safety Management Measures rules are to be observed.

About the Speaker

Meryl Chin is an associate librarian at library@esplanade wherein her niche lies in film. She works on curating and promoting film collections and programmes to nurture performing arts audiences and develop performing arts literacy.
