Description

You are one step away from realising the full potential of your own body. Realising the human body can do much more beyond the conventional ideas of movement and its methodology. It will give ignite a new flame and flare to create movement from all parts of our lives.

Let us give you an example to understand BASIC MOVEMENTS. What would you do if you were 20 years older and you were trying to get up from the bed? In this day and age with the increase of mobility devices and screens everywhere. We have begun to only work with gross movements forgetting very fine controlled movements such as moving really slowly, balance on toes and many more. Moving to the point where we do everything unconsciously and unware of the action.

WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND

This workshop bring together many aspects of a human being movement patterns that we may have become so accustomed to or have forgotten how we move in our natural environment.

We will be working on movements aspects such as,

1. Floor Movements: imagine you were a baby and what you might have done during that period of growth

2. Floor to sitting positions: these will challenge your mind and perhaps for some the body to figure out the method to moving into a fully seated position – of course we will be there to guide you and teach you some methods you could use

3. Sitting to standing positions: there are many ways to stand and as you observe the people around you on a daily basis you will begin to see patterns of movements which we will also discuss with you on a deeper level

4. Progressions & Regressions of Movements Learnt: finally once you have gone through the myriad of movements imparted to you through 1 – 3 you will be allowed to explore and experiment how to make it easier or more difficult to move

WHAT TO EXPECT

You will be brought through a easy to do warm up movements followed by sections Floor movements, floor to sitting and sitting to standing as described above which will prepare you for Progressions & Regressions.

There will also be Discussions for each section to break things to for everyone to digest which will allow for you to share and learn together

WORKSHOP SCHEDHULE

12noon – Register & Introduction

1210 – Warm up

1250 – Movement

1420 to 1440 – Discussion & Closing

There will be ample rest time given in between each movement section and for note taking.

CAN ANYONE TAKE PART

Without a doubt, as long as are able to move and are mobile enough to walk. You are definitely ready for this workshop. It is not an intense workshop but rather intense ONLY BY CHOICE. Therefore, should you be worried that you may not be FIT or HEALTHY enough to move, you are totally fine!

WHAT TO BRING

  1. Come in comfortable clothes to move in

  2. Note Book & Pen

  3. Bottle of Water

  4. Change of Clothes (Maybe?)

Workshop will be ran by Emile Dumont. He is a Sports Scientist by training, loves to explore various methods of movement techniques varying from physical theatre to sports specific styled movements. Of course, having been an adjunct lecturer with LASALLE College of the Arts with Musical Theatre & advising with Dance. He has worked with many movement styles and patterns through observation or exploratory methods.

With this experience, he hopes to share more with you and allow you to realise the full potential of your body and its ability to move freely and flow.
