Basics of Code 1 - School Term for Ages 8 - 11
Basics of Code 1 is SG Code Campus' foundational course. Our school term course, conducted over 6 weekly sessions of 2 hours each, will touch on the nature of computers - where they are found, why they are useful, and how they work. Students begin learning the fundamentals of code by using Scratch to command the world's most popular drone - the Star Wars BB8 © by Sphero ©! Our goal is to build an appreciation for why learning to program a computer is important today -- Code Campers will come to recognise code as a language used to instruct computers, as well as a means to tackle complex problems. Students will also begin to understand why coding is both a science and a type of mathematics.
How do you use computer science to solve a problem? You start by learning how to formulate algorithms (chain tasks together to solve a problem), construct loops (computers are great at repetitive tasks so exploit that!) and rely on conditionals (enable your computer to make decisions). After this course, kids will be able to build basic programs and collaborate with others to devise computer-based solutions to problems. We can’t wait to begin!
Lesson will be conducted every Sunday, 18th Sep to 16th Oct, from 4 to 6 pm, on our Campus at #03-04 Parkway Centre.
