Basics of Code 4 - Weekly Coding Course for Ages 8 - 11
The earlier three courses in the Basics of Code sequence have focused on using computers to do tasks like handling events, making decisions and running repetitions; such processing is integral to the art of programming. What is equally important is the data that is being processed – the information that a computer program acts upon. In the third course of the sequence, we will explore how computers organise, manipulate, store and retrieve information.
In the physical world, dealing with a single item or person is often much easier than dealing with a group of individuals; in computing, every computer language thus offers collections to help us deal with this complexity and AppInventor is no different. In this course, we will explore how lists in AppInventor make it easier to build apps that manage multiple tasks on a to-do list app or keep track of the virtual enemies in the mobile game.
As every non-trivial app you build will involve interacting with a database, we will also explore how data is warehoused for use by the apps you build.
Lesson will be conducted every Saturday, 17th Sep to 15th Oct, from 4 to 6 pm, on our Campus at #03-04 Parkway Centre.
