Description

Bereavement Care in Singapore: Present, Past & Future

Bereavement, defined as the objective situation of the loss of a loved one, is a universal experience. Yet, bereavement care does not seem to be everybody's or anybody's core business. When did bereavement care take root in Singapore? What role did palliative care play in its development? What is the current state of bereavement care in palliative care teams and beyond? Who are the stakeholders in the provision of bereavement care? How can palliative care professionals contribute to current efforts to ensure the support for the bereaved - going beyond
healthcare institutions and into the community?

In this prelude to the inaugural Singapore conference on grief and bereavement from 31 October to 01 November 2018, participants are invited to engage in a discussion on bereavement care in Singapore with a panel of social workers who will trace the development of bereavement care in the city-state, review its current provision and offer their perspectives on future opportunities.

Lunch reception would be provided from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm and the session would commence at 1:00 pm.
