About the Event

The Bird Colouring Social Club is a community focused art initiative to bring the people around the neighbourhood into a shared art space. Birds played an important role in the Singapore community during the post-independence years of the 60s and 70s. Bird-singing clubs were a very popular pastime in our heartlands, where people gathered and listened to local songbirds like the Merbok (Zebra Dove) and the Bul-bul, which were prized for their rich melodies and uplifting, resonant tones.

Colour the Zebra Dove, Bulbul and the ‘Serangoon Bird’ on physical paper and release your 3D bird design into the digital aviary on-site! This exhibition is presented as part of the Arts in Your Neighbourhood programme organised by the National Arts Council.  

Schedule

The digital aviary and the colouring booth will be available daily at Jurong West Public Library L2.

Weekdays: 3pm - 6pm

Weekends: 11am - 6pm

Participation at the booth is on a first-come-first-served basis. No registration is required

About Kronoscapes

Kronoscapes is an multidisciplinary art collective working across art and design. Their interests include heritage, history, and developing localised digital repositories to archive the collective memories of fellow Singaporeans.

Founded in May 2020 by artists John Ng, Sandy Yeo and Lee Sze-Chin, Kronoscapes hopes to encourage conversations around identity and belonging via participatory making and sharing, as well as through the navigation, interpretation and discussion of the rich social archives found in our local communities.
