Event description

Description

Blockchain technology is heralded as the next chapter of the information and network society and is perceived to have an enormous impact on our economy, trade and the public sector. Yet, it is still early days for Blockchain. The current state of affairs is often compared to the early stages of the internet. In order to establish the exact opportunities and threats of this groundbreaking technology, the Dutch government has started 25 pilot projects to develop specific use cases between public organizations and technical experts. These use cases generated new questions - technological, legal and ethical – and opened new fields of technology development. The speaker will share about the lessons learned from the different pilots and propose some recommendations to proactively carry out Blockchain projects with government agencies.

Marloes Pomp is the Initiator and Program Officer of the blockchain projects within the Dutch Government and she is responsible for the international strategy of the Dutch Blockchain Coalition. She is currently working on a three-year collaboration between Singapore and the Netherlands on blockchain projects and research. Her professional interests focus on tech innovation within the government. Prior to the blockchain projects, Marloes Pomp worked in several roles such as project leader and researcher at governmental organizations, including Ministry of Internal Affairs, City of Amsterdam, the Dutch Court and the Ministry of Foreign affairs.
