About this event
This event is for students participating in Leeds International Summer School only.
The Yorkshire Dales is only a short journey away from Leeds, and offers plenty to do and explore! We have chosen two of our favourite places to take you on this excursion: Bolton Abbey and Ilkley.
On arrival at Bolton Abbey, you will find the Priory Church and Ruins of an Augustinian Priory, which stand alongside the river Wharfe. You are welcome to stay and take your time looking around the ruins and iconic Stepping Stones across the river.
Or if you fancy a stroll, there will be the option to go on a guided walk through the woods(3km, 1.5 hours- including time at a café halfway to buy an ice-cream). Remember to bring snacks and a packed lunch with you as you may not have the opportunity to buy food until we get to Ilkley in the afternoon.
Comfortable and sensible shoes are advised for the walking trail, as the ground is uneven in places.
After our visit to Bolton Abbey, we will all board the coach which will take us to the town of Ilkley. We will arrive into Ilkley at the picturesque Cow and Calf Rocks, the perfect spot for a photo of the view! You can then walk down into the town on the main road. Alternatively, you can stay on the coach at Cow and Calf Rocks and be dropped off in the town centre.
Please refer to the Excursion pack on the LISS Microsoft Team for recommendations of places to visit and things to do in Ilkley.
Please arrive and board the coach promptly at 9.15am. Late arrivals and students who have not booked in advance may not be accommodated.
Bring with you your LISS lanyard so we can confirm on arrival that you are a summer school participant.
Please meet the LISS Social Assistants outside the Parkinson Building by the steps before the advertised start time. You can find the Parkinson building at number 60 on this campus map.
