Event Details

How do people innovate and share their inventions with the 4 billion people earning less than $8 per day?

4 billion people in communities all over the world live on less than $8 per day. That's why innovation is so important at the bottom of the pyramid: it empowers people who can in turn become entrepreneurs, and create growth in their communities.

In this review of the breakthrough technologies that target BoP communities, you will find case studies and examples ranging from crazy projects and ideas to already operational and used solutions in Nigeria, India, Kenya, Argentina, and more!

You will learn how 3D printers can be used to 'grow' a new arm; how 1 litre of urine can provide 6 hours of light; and how a simple aquatic plant is currently bringing clean drinking water to 300,000 people each day.

This session is also for you to contribute your own stories about the creative technologies you have seen tackling poverty all around the world. If you have a story, come and share it!

Date: Tuesday, 8 April 2014

Time: 7 - 9pm

Venue: The Hub Singapore

About The Speaker

Anne-Laure Herrezuelo is an agronomist engineer by training, with a double master in Agricultural Science (food and environment), and in Sociology and Rural Economy.

Her career started in the NGO emergency and development field. She has been working in Africa on food security projects and in South America to help farming communities get structured and access better to market opportunities. She also provided organizational expertise to organizations working with vulnerable populations  such as malnourished children, and underprivileged families.

Anne-Laure then moved back to France to work as a consultant in change and organization. She has supported the restructuring of the National Immigration social services (equivalent of the French NPDT), the French national council for refugees and asylum seekers and many other social services.

Due to her expertise, she has also been involved in change management for MNCs in the air and space industries, and water industry, among others.

Now in Singapore, Anne-Laure is the Senior Manager, business and programme development for BoP HUB, which foster cross-sectorial collaboration among the BoP (Base of the Pyramid) interested parties.
