Bukit Brown Walking Tour
Event Information
About this event
Most people coming to Bukit Brown barely scrap the surface. On our tour, we will go behind the scene, and do the full story. Fact or fiction, we will clear the air and dig deeper.
For example, there is that little nondescript tomb of Mdm Lu at the foothill of Hill Number 3. While many simply walk on, the story (and history) behind this head stone holds an almost forgotten story of Asia's sugar king. Many of us are familiar with the GCBs at Oei Tiong Ham Road. But not many people know this. Oei Tiong Ham is the descendant of one of China's most famous rebel from the Small Dagger Secret Society (who famously fought the Qing Dynasty during the 1850s). He lost. He fled to Sumatra, and became the ultra rich Sugar King. But just who is this Mdm Lu?
We'll continue the story when we meet on the 5th March 2022, 08.30am at Marymount MRT. Nobody goes home "unhappy" on this tour.
Note: We do the world wide practice of tipping at the end of the tour.
