Event description
We create discussions, design experiences, and showcase creators that are developing products, services, and organizations for good.

About this Event

Creative Nation is a newly established social impact start-up that will be launching on the 7th of December with the support of National Youth Council of Singapore. We believe in the power of using creativity to generate social impact. We create discussions, design experiences, and showcase other social impact creators that are developing products, services and organizations for social good.

Come 7 Dec, Creative Nation will launch its inaugural event, Singapore's first youth-driven social impact convention. The event aspires to be a space where bridges of understanding and collaboration for social impact across class, gender and racial lines are built.

At our launch event you can expect to:

  • Participate in discussions on gender equality, racial dynamics, identity, and sustainable growth.
  • Experience activities designed to uncover racial biases and promote understanding between class / socio economic lines. Be a part of our living data set that will be used to develop programmes that promote racial cohesion.
  • Meet with our businesses for good exhibitors, who are developing products, services, and organizations that help make Singapore a more caring, cohesive, confident, and sustainable country.

At Creative Nation, we believe that people should not be priced out of opportunities to expand their horizons. If you are a student, or you are unable to afford the ticket, use this promo code to book your tickets. [STUDENT].

You may purchase tickets to the event via this page or any of our other panel discussion pages. All tickets grant you access to all panel discussions and exhibition, also known as Businesses for Good, at Creative Nation 2019.

PANEL DISCUSSIONS:

We have gathered a panel of inspiring women that will discuss the peaks and valleys faced by female leaders that create products, services, and organisations that are focused on enabling others. The discussion will also feature conversations on key issues such as, tackling gender inequality, having more board representation, and the gender wage gap, to seek insights on how we as a society can move forward in our pursuit to empower women to drive the changes they want to see in this world.

How can we design a more inclusive world? Our panel is made up of inspiring young individuals who are dedicating their lives to building organisations that are designed to enable others. Each panelist tells a story of dedication in using their skills to be a force for good in their various communities. Join our panel to uncover insights on the motivations, peaks, and valleys of youths who are building organisations, for good.

Food connects us in a lot of ways. As Singaporeans, we have constantly been on the precipice of change, it is hard to keep traditions when we are constantly moving forward. In surroundings that become unrecognizable every decade, food that transcends generations help us build identity.

Our panelists are made up of individuals familiar with building, and in some cases, breaking traditions with food. From a member of third generation of the Loi family which has built Ya Kun over the last 75 years, to the head of Singapore's first sustainable urban farming project, to a young lawyer invested in promoting edible flora native to Singapore for the last 200 years to chefs that craft unique cuisines inspired by Singapore. Join our panelists as they discuss the evolution of Singapore's identity, through food.

SOME OF OUR BUSINESS FOR GOOD EXHIBITORS:

  • The Woke Salaryman

The Woke Salaryman, we make comics on Facebook that aim to inspire, educate and remind everyone to have good, healthy relationships with money. Since our first post went out on April 2019, we've amassed more than 100k followers on Facebook. We are constantly pushing ourselves to find new and engaging ways to communicate complex things in relatable, entertaining and valuable ways.

  • Society Staples

Society Staples enable and support corporations, agencies and individuals to build a more inclusive Singapore for persons with disabilities through varied capacities. Starting with awareness and advocacy, the team offers novel CSR related team building activities and educational programmes with options like dragon boating and assembling sport and play equipment for charities. Besides training and consulting organisations to narrow the social gap and foster greater inclusion, Society Staples also leverage on mediums like events and facilitated conversations to create shared experiences and build a common understanding among diverse communities.

  • Campus Psy

Campus PSY (Peer Support for Youths) is a “By Youths, For Youths” Non-Profit Organization, that aims to promote mental health awareness through advocacy, training, peer support and volunteering to youths and young adults in the schools and workplaces.

  • Will And Well

Will & Well was founded to improve our lives by changing the way we wear clothing. Many elements of modern clothing like buttons and back zippers have not been updated for centuries. And these inconveniences are further amplified for people with disabilities. Applying design thinking and technology, Will & Well creates a new way to wear clothing by marrying fashion and function.

  • Trybe

Established in 1995, Trybe is a social service agency that serves youth facing adversities. A member of the National Council of Social Services (NCSS), Trybe is a charity that has been granted the Institute of Public Character (IPC) status. Our vision is “Every Youth a Success Story”. We believe that all youth are able to reach the fullest of their potentials to live successful lives. Thus, we are united by our mission - to journey with youth who face adversities to lead purposeful lives, inspiring them to impact others.

  • Weirdandwonderfuledibles

Weird and Wonderful Edibles was founded in 2016 by Joanna who wanted to grow interesting herbs and flowers for her private chef/baker friends. The idea was to cut short the supply chain by growing and supplying tropical herbs and flowers for use in local cooking. The wider purpose was to kickstart the garden to table movement in Singapore. 3 years on, whilst the business is still an ad hoc small-batch produce supplier, it mainly sells edible plants, gardening equipment and conducts workshops/talks related to horticulture.

  • Comcrop

ComCrop, short for Community Crop, was started with the vision of finding creative solutions to feed our community with home-grown leafy greens that are pesticide-free, while providing meaningful employment to senior citizens, people with disabilities and the disadvantaged.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

You'll need a valid admission ticket to catch the panel discussion. Come prepared and curious with questions that you would like to hear from the panel.
