About this event
Update: 10 Feb will be our last dance playgroup
Hi parents, I am a mom of a 2 year old toddler and I have been hosting open-ended play sessions, playgroups, parties and other events for a growing community of parents of babies and toddlers who meet regularly to play together.
Check out @tinyplayclub on Instagram, where I share reels and snippets of our community events and play sessions and play ideas that the kids loved.
I am so excited to share that Tiny Play Club is collaborating with Rolypoly Family to host dance playgroups for young children aged 1-6 years old and their adult caregivers. The playgroups will be led by Bernice, a performing and teaching dance artist with years of experience dancing with children.
Through free play, music, creative movement, massage, art and dance jamming in this highly interactive, play-driven dance playgroup, children and grown ups will use their whole bodies to explore, observe, and engage all their senses in community with each other - a wonderful bonding and socialising experience for everyone too!
Children will also be exposed to different music genres, and different creative movement themes at each dance playgroup. There will be a mix of regular and new materials at each playgroup.
At our upcoming dance playgroup on 10 Feb, we will express our emotions (happiness, sadness, anger etc) in different ways through dance and movement.

How do I get to Terra Luna Yoga (Bukit Timah)?
Terra Luna Yoga is located inside the Link@896 shopping mall, previously named Sime Darby Centre right opposite King Albert Park MRT station and directly accessible via lift from the ticket concourse level and an overhead bridge. Click here for directions by train, bus, car and free shuttle bus to Link@896.
Is there a minimum age to join?
Dance playgroup is best suited for walking children as there will be lots of dancing, shaking, rolling, jumping and other full body movements.
Prewalkers and beginner walkers are welcome too. They might not move as obviously as the older toddlers during the playgroup at the start but they get very inspired too.
Adult-accompanied event
This is an adult-accompanied community event for both children and caregivers to socialise - strictly no drop-offs!
Cancellation and make up policy:
As the cost of hiring the facilitators and renting the studio is fixed per dance playgroup and split among families who have booked to attend, tickets are non-refundable but can be transferred to another child. Alternatively, families are welcome to attend 1 other TPC event as a make up (with a top up if event cost differs).
About the host
Led by dance artists Faye Lim and Bernice Lee, Rolypoly Family offers performances, exhibitions, workshops and classes for young children, youths and adults.
Through their dance projects and programs, Rolypoly Family aims to support the artistic, creative and social-emotional learning of children, their families and communities.
Both mothers themselves, Faye and Bernice were brought together by their intuitive and responsive movement practices and experience working with diverse children, including playing and dancing with their own children. Their work is deeply inspired by their practice in contact improvisation (CI) and improvised performances, so expect to hug, push, pull, roll, jump and climb together during dance playgroup, with the adults and children taking turns to lead and follow!
Bernice holds a BFA in dance from The Ohio State University and an MA in Fine Arts from LASALLE College of the Arts, while Faye holds an MFA in Dance and Choreography from NYU, a B.A. in World Arts and Cultures from UCLA and has performed and taught in NYC prior to her work in Singapore.
As performing and teaching artists, Faye and Bernice brings to their dance programmes their expertise in facilitation, training in pedagogy, and experience in and passion for dance, movement improvisation and performance.
Rolypoly Family also partners with groups and organisations across Singapore, such as community groups, social service organisations, arts groups and institutions, and government agencies. They are often at The Artground and are involved in various projects across Singapore from time to time.
Families are encouraged to follow their work and events at @rolypolyfamilysg on Instagram and they can also be found at www.rolypolyfamily.com.
Bonuses for the TPC community:
Rolypoly Family also runs weekly Dance Playgroups for children aged 1-6 and Contemporary Dance Classes for adults and youth aged 7 and up at Sigma Dance Collective Space (10 Raeburn Park) and Goodman Arts Centre.
They have kindly extended the TPC community 10% off their dance playgroups and classes for children and youths. Simply mention 'Tiny Play Club' in the comments/questions box of the Google Form when registering for the Dance Playgroup and/or Children's Contemporary Dance Class.
Notes:
This is a private event only for the Tiny Play Club community. To join the community, please WhatsApp me at 87266246 to introduce yourself and your child(ren). There are no membership fees to join the community. As this is an in-person community, I want to make sure that I personally know every attending family to keep the community safe.
- Please WhatsApp me at 87266246 before booking tickets if you have not attended the play sessions before, or tickets will be automatically cancelled.
- These play sessions are adult accompanied. Parents, grandparents and/or helpers are welcome.
- A maximum of 2 adult caregivers per family so as not to crowd the dance studio
- I kindly request parents not to bring puffs or packaged snacks as my child has a weakness towards these addictive snacks and those snacks will affect his appetite for meals and worsen his picky eating :-D
- Feel free to WhatsApp me at 87266246 if you’d like to join us or if you have any questions!
