About this event

WHAT?

Decoupage is an art of decorating objects with paper cut-outs or with beautiful European-style napkins. You will have fun creating art with everyday used objects. It is also a form of upcycling. Using the various techniques of decoupage, you can decorate any object including household items such as bags, pouches, glass bottles, porcelain plates, wooden boxes, to large pieces of furniture. You will derive satisfaction in presenting them as gifts to your loved ones and friends.

Materials provided:

1. 1 X PVC pouch

2. 1 X Cotton tote bag

3. Napkins

4. Decoupage glue

5. Artist varnish

6. Glue sponge

7. Varnish brushes

8. Square sponge

9. Acrylic paint

10. Plastic container

Things that participants need to bring from HOME

For every lesson, please bring:

1. One x Craft Scissors

2. Hairdryer

3. Art brushes (flat brush) - size about 1.5 to 2 cm

Please bring the following for the specified lessons:

Lesson 1:

Your trainer will explain more during the first session, so please be punctual.

Lesson 2:

Any plastic item with white or light cream and textured surface e.g. a textured tissue paper box holder; flower pot; a vase, etc.

Lesson 5 & 6:

Wooden box

Lesson 7:

Glass plate: it must be transparent, to create a reversed technique on glass plate

Lesson 8 :

Glass bottle: the bottle can be opaque or clear. If opaque, it should be very light in colour (and not a dark coloured one) ____________________________________________________________________________________________

Course fee:

$280 | $56 for seniors eligible for National Silver Academy (NSA) subsidy*

*NSA subsidy is for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents aged 50 and above.

Course fee may be offset by ^SkillsFuture Credit (SFC). First, course participants are to make payment for the course through Brahm Centre Eventbrite page, followed by claim with SFC. Brahm Centre will reimburse the amount that is successfully claim upon receipt of the funds from SFC. More details on SFC will be provided upon registration.

Notes:

• Please note that payments for courses are non-refundable.

• There are no make-up lessons if you miss any session.

• If you miss the first session, you are allowed to proceed with the course. However, the trainer is not obligated to do a recap during the second session.

Trainer Profile:

Pearl Tang has great passion in art and craft creations and its activities.

Her interests include crochets, knitting, decoupage, air-dry clay sculpture, jewellery-making, crepe paper flowers, soft-pastel painting, Zentangle® etc.

She is also a PA trainer.

Pearl is a Certified Facilitator and Trainer by WDA – ACTA

She had relevant trainings on :-

(1) WSQ - Organise and implement group activities and recreation programmes

(2) WSQ - Design and Develop an Effective Volunteer Work Programme

(3) Certified trainer – Zentangle®

(4) Certified trainer – Japanese Nagomi Pastel Art

(5) C3A, IAL and SUSS – Introduction to Geragogy Guidelines

Pearl believes and encourages seniors to adopt the mindset of active aging and lifelong learning. Hence, she is currently involved in active aging activities, such as conducting National Silver Academy (NSA) and Skillsfuture Approved courses on art and craft at various Active Ageing hubs/centres.

Pearl regularly upgrade her skills and had taken many trainings, such as:-

- Essential skills of Organise and implement seniors activities

- Design and develop an effective Volunteer work programme on AAH.

- WSQ certified - Organise and implement Group Activities and Recreation programmes

- Sensory Art Toolkit workshop, joint organised by SSI, NAC and IMH.

- Design and Develop an Effective Volunteer Work Programme
