Description

“Trauma is a time traveller.” –Junot Diaz

From George Orwell who held his guilt of breaking a cup for more than 20 years to Slyvia Plath’s eternal trauma from her father’s death: the power that childhood experiences have over us is immense.

In this session of Deep Cut, let author Charmaine Leung take you through the shame and pain of her childhood—from the forced secrecy on her family’s background to the glaring incompleteness of her family—and the words and worlds of books that carried her through those difficult periods.

About Deep Cut
Inspired by the term deep cut—used in the music industry to refer to the b-sides or songs of an artist that are not well known or conventionally played—this year-long series explores both unconventional intersections in literature and the little-known sides to authors.

Our venue partner, Littered with Books, is an independent bookseller in Duxton housing a range of carefully curated literary books!
