Synopsis

About the session: Copyright

The origins of copyright law can be traced back to the invention of the printing press in the 15th century. Copyright law was originally developed to protect against the unauthorised copying of books. Since then, the law has had to adapt to advances in technology. In the information age, copyright law is in urgent need of an update to keep up with the rapid pace of innovation.

In this session, we will share recent developments which are relevant to the copyright law in Singapore. These developments relate to important issues, such as the scope of copyrightable subject matter in the 21st century. This session will also provide an insight into the further developments we can expect in the near future. For audience members new to the subject, there will also be a brief introduction to copyright law.
