Description

Design Thinking has gained important supporters among the business leaders. This has helped to break into the business strategy and recognise design thinking as an effective driver for innovation and sustainable growth. In Singapore, a national framework has been established for the infusion of design thinking in private industry, public and people sector to develop Singapore into the new Asia’s hub for innovation and creative enterprise. Today, design thinking is widely accepted and implemented by many government organisations and enterprises in Singapore.

But what is Design Thinking?
Design Thinking can be viewed as a user-centric, creative problem-finding, iterative and collaborative methodology that can be used across industries with respect to innovative products, services, processes and even societal challenges.

Why should you attend the workshop?
Design thinking does not typically focus on improving existing solutions, but examines challenges and opportunities to find new user-driven innovation solutions. This workshop will equip participants with the tools and methods they need to lead creatively and effectively in pursuit of growth by innovation.

The workshop will be led by Thierry Do and Shang Lim – Singapore’s design thinking chiefs who have lead the national framework in infusing design thinking capabilities in Singapore. Under the Design 2025 Masterplan for Singapore, they have founded the Design Thinking and Innovation Academy which has trained over 6,000 people from public servants to CEOs to use design thinking. In Japan, they have trained over 300 senior executives and managers in Design Thinking. They will inspire and enable participants to understand and apply Design Thinking in their organisations.

Workshop Overview
This intensive and immersive 4-day Design Thinking for Innovation workshop will guide the participants through the process of design thinking. The workshop will cover topics such as understanding the needs, wants and desires of the users, exploration of opportunities for innovation, rapid prototyping for ideas validation and user testing.

Who should attend?
Senior Executives, professionals, managers and executives looking at using Design Thinking for sustainable innovation.

The Workshop
The approach of the workshop is “learning by doing”. Participants will experience the design thinking process through working on a project with the objective of creating new innovative solutions for the users. This approach will help the participants to internalize design thinking by going through each step of the design thinking process.

Participants will go through the three phases of the Design Thinking process:
Understand, Explore and Test. This entails fieldwork, analysis of findings, ideation, rapid prototyping and user testing.

The workshop will be conducted in English.
