Description

"Don't tell me I'm dying!" -- Maintaining Hope in the Face of Death

It is not uncommon to hear end-of-life patients labelled as “in denial” or “not accepting”. This causes some healthcare professionals to only tread on the surface, careful not to destroy the fragile hope within and be satisfied when care preferences are teased out. Opportunities to explore life closure and discuss underlying fears and concerns may be lost in the process.

However, Hope and dying DO NOT have to be mutually exclusive. Second in a series of presentations on communications, this session of case-based discussion explores possible approaches in maintaining hope in the face of death from a medical and spiritual perspective.

Lunch reception would be provided from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm and the session would commence at 1:00 pm.
