Remember the powerful event BE EMPOWERED AS A MENTOR?  Many thanks to those who contributed to making it a success! Watch the event video HERE

This is a follow-up breakfast session event to continue to empower compassionate leaders to serve in the marketplace as mentors.

For HR & Learning Practitioners

Do you know how you can best help someone climb back up when they are feeling down?

Even if you have great willingness to be someone's mentor, and have deep insights into the values and preferences of your mentee, it is not easy to have that conversation if they are at the lowest points of their lives. This session aims to address that - how do you facilitate a purposeful conversation to help your mentee bounce back up, when they feel that they have fallen? In this workshop EMPOWER - Helping someone bounce back up (Voices Of Asia), our speakers Abe Jacob and Donus Loh will bring you through ways to help others become strong again and how one can build resilience to weather greater storms.

Isn't this exciting? Grab your tickets, make your donations while you can. Tickets will be snapped up soon!

Agenda in brief:

  • Breakfast & networking
  • Sharing by senior Business/HR leader on how he helped someone bounce back up. What he found most effective, when he has such a busy schedule every day
  • Sharing by psychologist on the secrets to RESILIENCE
  • Dive into the profile of your mentee, understand deep insights which you have never discovered before. Learn to mentor and coach your mentee UP again.
  • Take action and have that awesome conversation!

Key Speaker & Facilitator:

Abe Jacob, Capability Excellence Director (formerly Country & HR Director), Ecolab

With 25 years senior level experience in multinational and local organisations, and in multiple functions, Abe has honed his general management skills. He has also developed a global mindset in terms of his leadership approach, having lived and worked abroad and having led an Artillery battalion as its Commanding Officer.

Abe brings to the table the ability to develop world-class teams, manage organisational transformation and shape an organisation's culture especially during periods of growth, mergers and acquisitions and restructuring.

His former dual role was as the Country Director, Singapore, and Human Resources Director, SEA for Ecolab Pte Ltd, a US multinational headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota. In this role, he provided leadership and strategy for the local operations and shaped the organisation's regional human capital strategies in response to business needs. He has also driven the sustainability agenda of a business unit throughout South East Asia.

Abe obtained his Master of Business Administration in International Management at the Thunderbird Graduate School of Global Management in Arizona. Upon graduation, he was awarded the prestigious Barton Kyle Yount (BKY) Award, the highest award given by the faculty to a student who best embodies the spirit of Thunderbird. He is currently also working towards completing a Master of Science in Environmental Management from the National University of Singapore.

Abe is currently serving as a Commanding Officer of an Artillery Battalion, in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, as part of his National Service tenure in the Singapore Armed Forces. He was an Honorary Aide-de-Camp to the President of Singapore for three years and is a recipient of the Formation National Serviceman of the Year award and the Commendation Medal (Military). Abe also served as an Honorary Commander at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona, USA.

With such rich experiences, Abe has to overcome challenges, become stronger to move on with life, and while doing so, he has to inspire many others to take similar steps of faith. Come and hear his story.

Voices Of Asia

Voices Of Asia (VOA) is a community project which started in 2010 by a bunch of passionate speakers who believe in the power of storytelling. Stories are the world’s best kept secrets and we need to find a way to unleash them to touch and build lives. VOA believes that to transform lives, we must 1) INSPIRE people & 2) TEACH people.

Through partnering with industry influencers, we run a series of projects which help and support targeted group of individuals in the marketplace, through story-telling, speaking and mentoring. To help our volunteers become more impactful, training workshops such as these are often scheduled to build capabilities as well as awareness of our cause.
