Join Dr Paul Zhao on 5 February at 3pm as he shares and advices on digital eye strain, cataract and other common eye issues which one faces from childhood to old age.

Dr Paul Zhao, a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist, graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2002. He went through specialty training in Ophthalmology in Singapore with a Masters in Ophthalmology and obtained his Fellowship with the Royal college of Surgeons of Edinburgh(FRCSEd) and Academy of Medicine (FAMS). He subsequently went on to pursue a retina fellowship at Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong in 2012.
Dr Zhao performs retina surgery for conditions such as retinal detachment, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, diabetic eye disease (tractional retinal detachment, vitreous hemorrhage) and vitreomacular traction. He also has a special interest in the management of subluxed and dislocated lenses and the use of sutureless techniques for the scleral fixation of intraocular lenses.
He has significant experience in the medical management of retina patients with age-related macular degeneration, retinal vascular disorders, diabetic eye disease, retinal dystrophies and intraocular infections.
Dr Zhao also performs complex cataract surgery and is trained in using femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery and the use of intraocular lenses for correction of astigmatism and presbyopia.
Dr Zhao was previously the Head of the Vision Performance Centre, Military Medicine Institute where he oversaw the refractive surgery program and performed refractive surgery for servicemen.
He is an active Operationally-Ready National Serviceman and holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Dr Zhao is a visiting Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist at National University Hospital, Alexandra Hospital and Ng Teng Fong Hospital. He is also concurrently the Head of Alexandra Hospital Ophthalmology Department and has held an Assistant Professor appointment at the National University of Singapore.
Dr Zhao has presented at local and international conferences, and has over
20 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has also been involved in several pharmaceutical trials and collaborative clinical research with A*Star, SERI and other restructured hospitals in Singapore.
