Event description

Description

What better way to build awareness, create excitement, and educate Singaporeans on our public art works than to take them on a lively, fun and entertaining trail! Led by lively, fun and entertaining characters! The walking trails will be dotted with anecdotes yet keeping the focus on the importance of PUBLIC ART to the wellness of a civil and cultured society.

Character guides will present, with a theatrical touch, three different trails of selected public art works. Featuring highlights of our very own public art works to wonder and ponder over, you have three exciting themed choices – the Made in Singapore Public Art Trail, the Art in the Civic District Trail, and the Abstraction in Public Art Trail. Good for families on a morning walk together!

// ABSTRACTION IN PUBLIC ART TRAIL //

Abstract art is capable of sparking the imagination and stretches it to view art, and the world, from different perspectives. On this very unique trail, you will be introduced to some prominent sculptures which test the ordinary perception of what art is and what it means. A good mix of works by both local and overseas artists is featured. Dare to defy your perceptions? Come to the Abstraction in Public Art Trail!

Notes:

  • Duration of walking trail: 60 minutes, viewing 7 – 9 artworks.
  • Completely free of charge, but pre-registration is required. Each trail can take up to 30 guests. No shows will be duly frowned upon.
  • All walking trails are located in the city and meeting points have easy access to public transport. Children are welcome, adults are to accompany their children, and snapshots fully encouraged. The trails will allow time, space, and art for that!
  • A fan and bottle of water will be provided, and it is a rain or shine event. BYO umbrella/poncho.
  • Be comfortably dressed and put on good footwear.
  • Wheelchair-enabled and personal mobility devices acceptable, onus of responsibility lies on users.
