Masterclass: Game Design & Creation for Education & Scenario Play

By GUILD: Ground-Up Innovation Labs for Development

Overview

Join game designer and gifted teacher Musa Jaafar in this hands-on workshop where you’ll create your own tabletop or boardgame from scratch!

This November, explore the art and science of game design, spark your creativity and discover how games can foster teamwork, critical thinking, and fun.

Benefits for Children: Lovingly known as 'Gamer Dad' in the tabletop gaming community, Musa has inspiring stories from teaching Language Arts & STEM in Singapore and international schools overseas getting students away from digital screens towards positive play. He has brought analogue and digital games to classrooms, engaging a very broad spectrum of students, from at-risk youths to high performing overachievers. As a parent, he has also raised his own children through play, with several making it through Raffles Institution.

Benefits for Adults: Through scenario-based play like Dungeons & Dragons and tabletop games, he has also brought games to workplaces, engaging teachers and developing professionals to better navigate ambiguity and uncertainty. During COVID, his passion in play-based learning even extended into the virtual world, bringing joy to others over Zoom and Miro. To him, imagination through play brings new innovation.
