Description

Anglican High School Geography teachers, in collaboration with Master Teacher, Mrs Lee Hwa Phaik, refined the Secondary 2 curriculum for the Unit on “Inclusive Housing” by integrating collaborative learning with inquiry based and concept-based learning to engage students in solving real problems in Singapore. Teachers designed the lesson based on the hypothesis that if students work in group activities which challenge them cognitively, they will be more inclined to work collaboratively and be open to listen to other points of view. It was observed that there was increased engagement in students who showed their critical thinking skills when presented with real data that reflect the challenges of inclusive housing in different parts of Singapore.
