GYSS 2017: What Makes A Scientist Successful
In conjunction with the Global Young Scientists Summit@one-north (GYSS@one-north) 2017, the National University of Singapore (NUS) is hosting a panel discussion on the above topic with three eminent scientists: Prof Aaron Ciechanover, Sir Andre Geim and Sir Timothy Hunt.
The moderator will be Prof Barry Halliwell, Senior Advisor to the NUS President and Tan Chin Tuan Centennial Professor.

Prof Aaron Ciechanover
- Prof Aaron Ciechanover was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry (2004) for discovering that cells use ubiquitin to mark out old proteins for destruction and reuse.
Sir Andre Geim
- Sir Andre Geim and his colleague,Prof Konstantin Novoselov, were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics (2010) for their groundbreaking work on graphene.
Sir Tim Hunt
- Sir Timothy Hunt was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine (2001) for his discovery of cyclins, which he had named after his hobby of cycling.
