Description

LAST YEAR'S CASE STUDY CHALLENGE PRIZE WAS RM1500 FOR FIRST PLACE AND RM1000 FOR SECOND. WE PROMISE IT WILL BE AT LEAST JUST AS BIG THIS TIME AROUND!

Known last year as the successful Sustainable Development Goals Challenge, or SDGC2017, YME is once again holding a case study challenge slightly different from the last time! This year, we have a theme - and it's something all Malaysians are familiar with - if you haven't guessed it from the title already!

What is Hack-a-Food?

Hack-a-Food is a case-study-esque challenge themed around food as a means of raising awareness and improving the food waste situation we have both locally and internationally. Malaysia is widely known as food haven, but the issues that come with a massive food industry are often overlooked are simply not paid attention to. We challenge you to come up with solutions to tackle various food issues like waste control, delivery, and supply. The challenge is coming up technological solutions while assessing the economical and social impacts of such "improvements".

What to expect and why should you attend?

Case study challenges are a great way of improving your personal development as more well-rounded professionals. Taking into account various external elements other than what you specialise in will help you solve problems inter-dimensionally by looking at things from different angles. If you prefer, you still get to contribute enormously in the field you specialise in! Besides, the challenge is also a great way of making new contacts - networking is by far one of the most powerful tools for the future. Having like-minded or even starkly different individuals in your circle of acquaintances will drastically improve everybody's performance in the near-future. As it is an open event, anyone can form a team whether they're registering alone or as a group! If you prefer working with your friends, get a group together and nab the first prize for yourselves! If you're alone, let your individuality shine and show others what you're made of by being a valuable gold-star teammate! You've got nothing to lose!

Deposit and Space

Due to the nature of the event, there will be a commitment fee to be revealed later. Nonetheless, food and tea refreshments will be provided. If you have any specific dietary requirements, please contact Bazil Shahriman at bazil03@gmail.com. Also contact Bazil for more details on how to make the deposit.

Your Ticket and Registration

Your Eventbrite Ticket is required at the door. E-tickets are accepted so do consider the environment before printing it out if you opt to do so. Registration is closed for now but will be open to all but since spots are limited, so register as soon as you can! Look out for the registration opening next Monday! When registering, you'll be asked a simple question to assess if you're right for the challenge - also to seam the many applicants we're expecting.
