About the Event
When we think of hiking, we think of the rainforest in Malaysia, walking long distances with a heavy backpack in exotic National Park. Is hiking in Singapore even possible? Is it just walking in the park rather than hiking? What if I tell you that Researchers have found that a one-hectare plot of land within Bukit Timah Nature Reserve contains more tree species than the whole of North America. NParks has safeguarded more than 7,800 hectares of green spaces – nature reserves, gardens, and parks, linked by some 360km of park connectors – across Singapore. There are many places we can hike in Singapore! In collaboration with Singapore Hikers, we invite you to join us to discover what hiking is like in Singapore, its community and the places we can go hiking.
Founder of Singapore Hikers, Mr Joven Chiew, will share with you about general safety, the gears you need and how to get started with hiking in Singapore. After the talk, there will be a short hike around the Mount Faber area courtesy of our friends from Singapore Hikers, so feel free to join in!
