‘Tapas’ is one of the 8 limbs of yoga by Patanjali, and is often defined as “discipline, austerity or ‘burning enthusiasm”.

Over the weekend of 30 Aug to 2 Sep, gain a deeper understanding of your own mind and body, and how you can assist your students as we interact with Vari through a series of workshops and practice sessions. Ranging from Pranayama and OM meditation workshop to a core-focused vinyasa practice, and a full Ashtanga Primary Series adjustment workshop (CET Eligible), this weekend’s program is suitable for all who are looking to fire up your own practice.

Workshop schedule and details

30 Aug, Thu, 7.15pm – 9.15pm: Core-focused Vinyasa Practice

Seek strength and power from within as we “find” and activate our core muscles in this 90-min vinyasa practice. Move deeper into your practice as you explore the boundaries of your mind and body with Vari’s creative vinyasa sequence. In this class, rediscover the connection between your mind, body and breath as you flow in and out of poses under the watchful eyes and guidance of the experienced guru.

31 Aug, Fri, 1pm – 5pm: Inversions and Handstands Workshop

Face your Fear-asana as we learn the right technique to go upside-down safely. Ready to overcome your fears of falling over in inversions? It takes more than just strength and courage. Pick up tips on effective engagement of your body and bandhas and find your balance in the right alignment to prevent injuries. Feel free to try poses you have never tried before, and traverse new terrains in a safe environment to build a stronger practice.

31 Aug, Fri, 7pm – 9pm: Pranayama and OM Meditation (Donation-based)

Wind down from your hectic week by joining us in this 2-hour session of calming practice. Do you know what are the common pranayama techniques, and if you are doing them correctly in your yoga classes? Not sure what OM means, and what it does? In this session, we learn different pranayama techniques that could help us in our daily lives, and we clear your doubts about the meaning of OM. This session is donation based, and you are welcome to contribute any amount. All proceeds will go to Yoga Gives Back.

2 Sep, Sun, 10.30am – 5.30pm: Ashtanga Full Primary Series Art of Adjustments workshop (CET eligible)

For RYT200 and above, or yoga teachers w relevant experience. Course hours eligible for CET credits for Yoga Alliance US.

The Art of Adjustments is a tricky, yet important skill to acquire. As yoga teachers, we all understand how important it is to gift your students a safe and secure environment to push their boundaries, drawing on your energy and confidence.

With different body types and structures in a class, it is important to know which adjustment works best for each student. Learn how to use your body weight to safely adjust postures and correct alignments, allowing your students to experience a deeper practice while giving space for the energy to flow through the asanas. This workshop includes a full practice session.
