About the Speaker - Mr Ho Kwon Ping

Mr Ho is currently the Executive Chairman of Banyan Tree Holdings, which developed and operates more than 170 hotels and resorts, spas, and retail galleries. He is the first Asian to receive the ACA (American Creativity Association) Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his creativity and innovation in various spheres of endeavour. In 2011, he was voted Top Thinker in Singapore in the Yahoo! Singapore 9 Awards, for his business innovations and leadership in civic causes. Mr Ho has been instrumental in charting the direction of Singapore’s third autonomous university as an institution that offers a holistic, broad-based education with a business emphasis.

Join us on Thursday, 30 November, 7.30pm at Singapore Management University (Mochtar Riady Auditorium) as Mr Ho Kwon Ping shares about his life’s key turning points for the first time – from his days as a student and journalist; his detention and near-bankruptcy; his leadership of the Banyan Tree Holdings resorts and Singapore Management University (SMU); to him being accorded the Distinguished Service Order.

About the "In Search of Purpose" Talk Series

In Jan 2015, Central Singapore Community Development Council (CDC) launched the In Search of Purpose Talk Series (ISOP), a TED-style inspirational talk series that seeks to help adults and youth discover their bigger role in society. Speakers, either local or overseas, are invited to share their personal stories and experiences about various topics that we hope will encourage the audience members to give back and be part of a more caring community in Singapore.
