Insights on Singapore's Land Transport by LTA CE

The Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (SpanishCham SG), in collaboration with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) Singapore, cordially invites you to participate in this session that will take place next Thursday March 12th at 5pm in the LTA facilities (1 Hampshire Road, Blk 10 Level 1 -Transformation Office, Singapore).

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Transport that plans, builds and maintains Singapore’s land transport infrastructure and systems. They are at the forefront of construction and engineering, and employ state-of-the-art technology and methods in pursuing land transport solutions.

In this session, Chief Executive Mr Hoon Ping Ngien will share his views and experience as CEO of the LTA on the tremendous work LTA has accomplished over the years, the challenges and views ahead, and the lessons learnt. He will focus in the next areas of interest:

1. How Singapore/LTA does long term planning;
2. What LTA is looking out for in the long term, in terms of partners; and
3. Potential roles by Spanish Companies.

After the session, LTA team will be pleased to show the LTA Mobility Gallery to the attendees thru a guided tour.

Attendees will also enjoy some Spanish wines and refreshment afterwards.

As a special guest, we will have the Spanish Ambassador, Mr Santiago Miralles, who will open and welcome the session.

About Mr Ngien Hoon Ping

Mr Ngien Hoon Ping assumed the role of Chief Executive of LTA, Singapore’s Land Transport Authority from November 2016. Mr Ngien also sits on the Board of the Urban Redevelopment Authority.

Before joining LTA, Mr Ngien served as Deputy Secretary (Performance) in the Ministry of Finance.  

He served as a member of the Institute of Technical Education (ITE)’s Board of Governor and as a Board member of the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB). He also served as a member in the Boards of ST Logistics Pte Ltd, ST Electronics (Info-Software Systems) Pte Ltd and ST Aerospace Supplies Pte Ltd.

Mr Ngien holds a Bachelor in Engineering in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from the Victoria University of Manchester, United Kingdom. He also holds a Master of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the National University of Singapore. He attended executive programmes at INSEAD and IMD. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers.

He is a firm believer in Teamwork. He believes that, to achieve optimal organisational performance and to build an organisation that lasts, a leader must engage the hearts and minds of his staff, lead by example, and serve with passion and commitment.

Having served in various capacities, he has garnered more than 20 years of experience in Supply Chain Management / Logistics, Transportation, Engineering, Maintenance and Operations.
