The International Recovery Symposium 2023 (IRS 2023) brings together professionals and advocates in the field of drug demand reduction (DDR) and substance use disorder prevention, treatment and recovery support. It will be from 18 - 21 September in Kuching, Malaysia.

To be officiated by Premier of Sarawak, it is jointly organized by:

  • the Ministry of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development of Sarawak,
  • the International Society for Substance Use Professionals Malaysia,
  • the Organization for Addiction Prevention, Treatment and Rehabilitation,
  • The Colombo Plan
  • the Bureau of International Narcotics Law Enforcement Affairs, US Dept of State, USA
  • the National Anti Drug Agency of Malaysia,

The symposium is for:

  1. Capacity building for global drug demand reduction (DDR) & substance use disorder professionals.
  2. Continuing Professional Development in the prevention, treatment, & recovery support of substance use disorder specialty.
  3. Strengthening the global network of DDR professionals working tirelessly towards a healthy society free from substance use.
  4. Honor and celebrate the outstanding professionals, organizations, & initiatives in the field and recognize those who have successfully recovered from substance use disorder to live a fulfilling life.

There are 8 learning tracks over the 4 days and participants can opt to sit for ICAP credentialing exams at the venue.
