Achieve your ambition of becoming a news reporter.

This course will give you the opportunity to learn the skills required to be a successful journalist. Work directly with established professionals currently in the industry with proven track records of success, who will teach you the ins and outs of journalism.

This course will start with a beginner's session and lead up to 5 further sessions of intermediate and advanced training.

About Trainer

Nicholas Yong is an assistant news editor with Yahoo News Singapore. He has been working in journalism since 2006, across broadcast (938NOW), print (The Straits Times) and now digital media. He is also a published author of two works of fiction and runs the popular culture website Geek Crusade.

Course Overview

1) Introduction to Journalism

Students will learn about the basics of journalism, what journalism is and why it matters.

2) Different roles in Journalism

Students will learn about the different roles in both traditional and online newsrooms, and their functions in today's world.

3) Best practices

Students will learn some of the best practices that journalists should adhere to, and why these are important.

4) Beats

Students will be exposed to the different types of news reporting (general news, lifestyle, entertainment, E-sports) and what are some of the similarities and differences of each.
