Journey 2: The Pulse (5 Nov, 8pm)
Sat 5 November 2016, 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM Singapore Standard Time Singapore Time
Nadi Singapura is back with a new show Journey 2: The Pulse, presenting their vibrant brand of an interactive percussive experience. After a successful run on their first production, Journey of the Pulse (2013) and Journey of The Pulse: The Revival (2014), the team is set to further stretch the realm of drumming offering a diametric response to the conventional styles of music and presentation hailing from the Malay Archipelago from the past and present.
The project is not exclusive to the area of music but will incorporate other art forms such as the visual arts, performance installations, dance and movement choreography, theatre and poetry, in which Nadi Singapura defines their vision.
The presentation will feature homegrown talents from Nadi Singapura, with guest performers from various ITEs. In total, 28 Nadi Singapura ensemble members and 12 guest performers from various ITE percussion groups have been selected for the production after undergoing a round of auditions. Cast members will be working under the direction of Mr Riduan Zalani, Mr Ismahairie Putra Ishak and Mr Alhafiz Jamat (from instrumental world music ensemble, OrkeStar Trio) and have undergone workshops with dance choreographer Mr Nizarfauzi Norlie (Nadi Singapura/ SRIWANA), silat artist and choreographer Mr Fareed Sallim (Keluarga Besar Pewaris Pusaka Karuhun/ Som Said Sri Warisan Performing Arts Ltd) and dramaturge Ms Aidli Alin Mosbit (recipient of NAC Young Artist Award 2008).
Journey 2: The Pulse is directed by Mr Riduan Zalani and co-produced with Mr Yaziz Hassan. Made possible with the support of the National Arts Council (NAC), Institute of Technical Education (ITE), Aliwal Arts Centre (AAC) and the Singapore Youth Award (SYA).
A percussive theatrical experience that is set to entertain you with pumping rhythms and groovy wild drumming using everyday appliances and drums of the Malay Archipelago.
