What Kriya Yoga is and how this can be a travel guide for your inward journey. Workshop on scientific yoga and meditation techniques

About this Event

Brief Introduction

Each day we see an image of ourselves in the mirror and we know deep down that that is not the totality of who we are. Paramhansa Yogananda, author of Autobiography of a Yogi, teaches that each soul is unique, and that the highest purpose of life is to discover and fully express our uniqueness. This is the “Journey to Self-Realization.”

In this seminar you will learn:

  1. What Kriya Yoga is and how this can be a travel guide for your inward journey.
  2. How Kriya Yoga can bring more serenity and clarity to your daily life.
  3. A basic technique of meditation that you can use to explore your inner world.
  4. Through a practical session, make use of one of the techniques taught in Kriya Yoga, Pranayama, to increase the positive energy in your body.

Available at Workshop

  • Registration for Kriya classes

What is Kriya Yoga?

Kriya Yoga is a very ancient technique that was known to many great sages and Masters in India. It was lost to mankind for thousands of years but was again revived in 1861 by the immortal saint, Mahavatar Babaji. Babaji taught Kriya Yoga to the great Indian yogi, Lahiri Mahasaya, who had numerous disciples. Amongst his most advanced disciples was Swami Sri Yukteswar. In 1910, Paramhansa Yogananda, author of the famous spiritual book ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’, met his Guru, Swami Sri Yukteswar, who initiated him into Kriya Yoga. In 1920, Paramhansa Yogananda travelled to the West to spread the teachings of Kriya Yoga.

Kriya Yoga is a form of pranayama, a systematic way of controlling the pranic energy in the body. According to Yogananda, “Kriya (Yoga) is the easiest, most effective, and most scientific avenue of approach to the Infinite. In contrast to the slow, uncertain ‘bullock cart’ theological path to God, Kriya may justly be called the ‘airplane’ route.”

Kriya Yoga is effective for one and all, regardless of their cultural, social or religious affiliation, age, sex or previous experience.

“Meditate more and more deeply, until calmness and joy become second nature to you.”

-Paramhansa Yogananda

In 1920, he moved to the United States to begin what was to develop into a worldwide work touching millions of lives. Americans were hungry for India’s teachings, and for the liberating techniques of yoga.In 1946, he published what has become a spiritual classic and one of the best-loved books of the 20th century, Autobiography of a Yogi. This book has been translated into 21 different languages.Born in India in 1893, Paramhansa Yogananda was trained from his early years to bring India’s ancient science of Self-realization to the West.
