Jr. Game Designer March Holiday Camp
Event Information
About this Event
During this 4-day camp, Explorers will be introduced to basic animation skills and gain knowledge and exposure to computational programming and game design through an interactive and hands-on experience using Scratch 3.0.
Day 1: Introduction to Scratch 3.0 interface and functions
Explorers will get to familiarize with the different blocks and functions in Scratch 3.0. They will learn to animate themselves and other characters using the tools in the program.
Day 2: Animate
Explorers think and create sequencing in storytelling. They will incorporate sounds, conversations, backdrops, and plot in their story.
Day 3: If this event happens, that event will occur
Explorers will be exposed to the steps of program writing. They will learn about what they should take note and think about before starting to write a program. They will then be tasked to write their very own program or game. In controlling the flow of their program or game, they need to make selections that influence decisions. There will be a series of creative thinking exercises whereby they will be introduced to create catch games as they program the character in their story to catch other sprites.
Day 4: Chase Game Situations
Explorers will get to create various possibilities of a simple game of chase, whereby one character of the game chases another character so that the player can garner a lot of points. It is up to the explorer to determine the difficulty of the game based on the program they design!
