About App Inventor 2

MIT App Inventor 2 has a drag-and-drop visual programming interface that allows everyone to build fully functional apps for Android. A drag-and-drop, or blocks-based, interface allow students to spend more time learning programming concepts and building up applications versus when they learn programming in text-based environments.

With more people moving away from the laptop and spending more time on their smartphones, it gives students a great advantage for having the skills and knowledge on app building. This workshop seeks to build up students’ computational thinking skills and harness their creativity in creating fully functional applications for the smartphones. The beginner workshop focuses on introducing how App Inventor works and covers basic programming concepts. Students will put together a final project using knowledge they have learnt in this workshop.
