About this event
This is an academic look at the sex industry and sex tourism. More importantly, it is also a look at the marginalized folks in this profession. The pandemic has made sure that this type of work is most at risk. So, what can the sex workers do?
Brothel Number 8 and Brothel Number 6, 6A and 6B have decided to call it a day at Keong Saik Road. This means that Keong Saik Road has finally cleaned herself out of a sleazy image. So, Keong Saik Road is now really a happy foodie paradise. Lonely Planet says it is one of the top ten places you must visit in Singapore before you leave. You think so?
Flanders Square in the meantime, (in a matter of weeks), maybe days, will no longer have anything to do with the sex industry. The once so notorious Flanders Square is just beginning to shed its sexy past. Someone out there thinks he can turn Flanders Square into a foodie’s food joint. He couldn’t have chosen a sexier address. Number 22, Flanders Square was once the den of sexy Coco Ng who served her customers right at this very spot. It is most unfortunate that Coco Ng also died at this very spot when a man plunged a knife into her chest. This case has never been solved. It is still an open case. Maybe we can help.
Meet me at the coffee shop at the junction of Neil Road and Keong Saik Road. Bring your MRT card as we will be taking the train to Farrer Park station. We meet at 9am, and we should be done by 12.30, maybe 1pm. I’ll be having my lunch at 22 Flanders Square today. It is now a Japanese restaurant.
Note:
- We do the world wide practice of tipping at the end of the tour.
- We also reserve the right to accept or reject habitual late cancellations and No Shows.
