About this event
About the Programme
Taking a mock site within Queenstown and using simple visual aids, thought-provoking questions and games, participants will be led through a series of steps (analysing, brainstorming and conceptualizing) to understand the site context, come up with different spatial ideas and eventually editing / refining those ideas to arrive at a basic landscape design concept. They will then be guided to do a 5-10 min presentation of their design.
This workshop is intended for seniors 60 years and above. Registration is required for this programme.
Please note the following:
- All participants to register for a ticket. Each ticket admits 1 person only.
- Arrive 10 mins before the session commences. Seats of late attendees will be given to waitlist.
- NLB reserves the right to deny entry to participants who do not abide by the ground rules.
About the Facilitators
Undergraduate students studying landscape architecture at NUS (National University of Singapore). They will be guided by their lecturers, Kenya Endo (https://cde.nus.edu.sg/arch/staffs/kenya-endo/) and Evi Syariffudin.
This workshop is part of the students’ design studio class, aimed at gaining insight into the following question: how will outdoor spaces in our residential estates be designed differently if designers had a deeper understanding of the needs and circumstances of the vulnerable (particularly the elderly and preschoolers) in our society? Through interacting with the participants of the workshop, they hope to understand their mobility / social needs, preferences and limitations better.
The students will themselves be designing the outdoor spaces of a HDB site of their choice within the vicinity of Margaret Drive, Dawson Road and Stirling Road. Their final designs will also be exhibited at the Queenstown Public Library.
