About the Programme/Event

Making a livestream is a very simple process, and through an iterative approach, a livestreaming setup can be built out at home that doesn’t break the bank. Join us for a hands-on, practical workshop on some basic techniques on learning about livestreaming techniques using some basic videography equipment. 

This workshop will teach you how to:

• Demonstrate the simplest process for livestreaming live content using Facebook
• Break down the five elements of a video production and how to use each to improve a livestream’s quality:
  • Lighting - Look for natural lighting sources to improve the look of a stream, and introduce basic LED panels to add fill lighting for a subject. 
  • Audio - Compare and contrast the differences between audio sources close to a listener versus far away.
  • Hardware - Use smartphones to capture video and basic mounting solutions available for popular smartphones. Introduce a basic computer setup that allows display capture.
  • Software - Show how to install OBS (Open Broadcaster Studio) to a PC.
  • Video - Compare and contrast the image quality captured by smartphones and webcams.
• Present two scenarios in which patrons can practice setting up a livestream.

NOTE:

Please bring a smartphone with you that can capture video and that has sufficient storage space to record up to 3 minutes of video.
