About the Programme/ Event

Learn Anything Faster & Better the Singaporean Way

Science suggests that we are hardwired to delude ourselves. Cognitive biases get in the way of clear and rational thinking—they can make learners resistant to incorporating new information, or prevent learning from happening altogether. But once you can spot the biases, you can beat them and maximise your potential at work and in life! Join Dr Fung Fun Man at this workshop to explore, from a local perspective, evidence-based strategies, such as interleaving, desirable difficulties and spaced practice, that have helped adult learners learn more effectively.

About the Speaker

Dr. Fung Fun Man is an instructor of Chemistry at the National University of Singapore (NUS), and the Co-Lecturer of ALS1010: Learning to Learn Better, one of the most popular courses at NUS. Fuelled by a desire to make science and learning accessible to as wide an audience as possible, he started an educational YouTube channel where he uploads new content regularly. In 2019, he released his co-authored book, 10 Things You Must Know About IChO, in Paris, France. His publications are also featured in World Economic Forum, The Conversation, and Channel News Asia

About the Future of Learning (FOL)

The Future of Learning is an annual event featuring inspiring local and international speakers, happening on 7, 8 and 14 Aug. The objectives of FOL are to introduce tools and strategies to supercharge our learning, enabling us to learn better, faster, and for longer, and to inspire lifelong learning. This year’s theme is ‘Staying Creative When Life Feels Monotonous’, which spotlights creativity as the essential skill for thriving in the future economy, especially during this pandemic, when our worlds have become smaller, jobs have been redefined, and we have had to learn to pivot to the ‘new normal’.

FOL will explore the theme of creativity through four segments — ‘Learning to Learn’, ‘Connection in Disconnection’, ‘Serious Fun’ and ‘Arts/Lifestyle’, through a total of 13 programmes. This is the inaugural year for FOL, and it is aligned with the SkillsFuture Month.
