Description

Lens of the Past is a photography walk where participants go on an immersive walk around Tanglin Halt and learn the tricks of photography from renowned photographer, Caroline Chia. In this community tour, participants return to the basics and discover photography techniques, and capture their own interpretation of the heritage buildings in Queenstown.

Participants will be visiting iconic sites including Church of Blessed Sacrament, Sri Muneeswaran Temple and Tanglin Halt Neighbourhood Centre.

About the photographer

Caroline Chia has been with The Straits Times for 12 years. She is a Media Studies graduate from the University at Buffalo, New York.

Over the years, she has covered both local and international events, including the 2013 Malaysian Elections, Singapore Grand Prix and the 2015 SEA Games. These days, her time is spent both shooting and supervising younger photographers at the paper.

Duration

  • Approximate Duration: 3 hours (9.00am to 12.00pm)

  • Please arrive at Commonwealth MRT Station (Exit D - Sheng Siong Supermarket) at 9.00am. The photography walk will start at 9.00am sharp and end at Tanglin Halt Neighbourhood Centre.

What to bring?

  • Wear comfortable clothes (preferably long pants) and shoes suitable for thick vegetation.

  • Bring along insect repellent, EZ-Link card, a bottle of water, an umbrella and a cap

  • Asthmatic patients are encouraged to bring their inhaler

  • Bring along your DSLR/Compact/smartphone cameras, batteries, lens and other equipment.

  • There is no refund if you were unable to attend (for any reason).
