Executive Producer: Donny BU

Production: ICT Watch & WatchDoc,

When the Internet as a medium of democratic space emerged, advocates of freedom and tolerance have to contend with hoax and intolerance disguised as freedom of expression and information. This struggle has also become a global trend. In recent times, Indonesia - with the number of Internet users reaching 132 million people - underwent political and social shocks significantly. Inevitably, differences of opinion on the Internet is now like sharp bamboo spears posing threats to the diversity in Indonesia. Hence, segments of the civil society are becoming aware on the need for digital literacy as an alternative effort to build resilience in the current era of mass information. This film is about how hoaxes, fake news and extremist ideas utilise the democratic space on the internet and threaten the very foundations of democracy in Indonesia.

Following the screening there would be a discussion on the diversity of Indonesian society and politics. Filmmaker will be present at the private screening.
