Theme: The Decisive Moment

French photographer Cartier-Bresson coined this phrase for the vital moment that captures the very essence of a scene. These five fascinating stories, some traditional, some personal, deal with the decisive moment when we are  tested and defined by our choices - a flight to freedom, a meeting a stranger, choosing a partner, keeping our faith, or facing certain failure.  At times, gripping, comical, inspirational yet always engaging.

About the Storytellers

Mabel Lee

Mabel has been telling stories for more than 20 years to little children as part of her work at a childcare centre, at festivals, museums and in the last 10 years to adults as well.

Kala Sundaram

Kala has been a member of the association since 2008. She enjoys stories, especially stories that transport her to worlds hitherto unknown to her.

Roger Jenkins

Roger founded the 398.2 Festival in 2015. He is delighted to continue as a performer, sharing stories in his conversational and often comical style.

Jessie Goh

Jessie has been a primary school teacher for 40 years and her pupils remember her best - for the stories she told, the poems and songs she taught and the games she played with them.

Horus Chay

Horus is an aspiring storyteller who enjoys good storytelling sessions. He also enjoys ant keeping and dragon boat rowing.
