A rainbow – the symbol of the LBGTQIA community and the symbol of God’s covenant. But where’s the middle ground?

“Is God anti-gay?”

“Why does marriage have to be between a man and woman?”

“Can you be both an LGBTQIA and a Christian?"

Join our panel discussion by Raphael Zhang and Rev. Barney Lau as we discover the Christian response to the LGBTQIA community and dig deeper into God’s love for all of us. This is a free event open to anyone from all backgrounds so do come and invite your friends to be part of this discussion.

Info on our Panellists

Rev. Barney Lau

is a Pastor and Director of The Next Generation (TnG) Ministries in Covenant Evangelical Free Church (Covenant EFC). Prior to a personal calling to serve full-time in Covenant EFC in 2008, Barney was the Managing Director of Microsoft Singapore Pte. Ltd. His secular career spans over 20 years in the IT industry in various capacities such as general management, sales, channels, business development, marketing, and technical support. Ps Barney has thought thoroughly on matters pertaining to LGBTQIA evidenced by his ordination paper being a thoughtful, clear, and compassionate Christian response to those with same-sex attraction.


Raphael Zhang

graduated with a Masters in English and was about to pursue further studies when the Lord directed his heart to issues affecting the family. Today, he serves in the area of Research and Development at Focus on the Family Singapore, a charity organisation dedicated to helping families thrive at different stages and phases of life. Having been led by God to journey out of sexual brokenness toward wholeness, he now avails himself to be used by Jehovah-Rapha to bring this healing and wholeness to others. He enjoys reading and writing, and believes there is no such thing as having too many books.
