Lower Peirce Reservoir Ramble
Event Information
About this Event
From the Kallang River to the rainforest, from the building of the reservoir to the role of the Central Catchment Area, water features prominently in this approximately two-hour walk around the Lower Peirce Reservoir, Singapore's second oldest reservoir.
Built by impounding the upper reaches of the Kallang River and commissioned in 1912, it not only provides a welcome oasis of tranquility for stressed-out city dwellers, the lush forests surrounding the reservoir also serve as an important refuge for many rare animal and plant species.
Starting at the dam embankment, the tour follows the banks of the reservoir and continues through the wilderness of the rainforest along the Lower Peirce Trail.
