Description

MacPherson: Art Course (Pencil-Sketching) - Oct 15-Dec 17 (Mon) 10 sessions

(*Seniors enjoy a National Silver Academy subsidy)

The foundaton of art lies in drawing techniques. By learning this basic skill in pencil sketching, you will develop confidence and have success in your painting in Watercolour and drawing with Colour pencils etc. Pencil-sketching can become a quick way for any art student to experiment with ideas, wherever they are. Van Gogh himself drew thousands of drawings to perfect his skill; and Picasso's genius was brought about first from his drawings - often with just a single, well thought-out line in pencil.

In this course, you will get to learn from the ground-up, starting from basic shapes to drawing other still life objects. Come learn this foundational skill and embark on your art journey!

Dates: (10 Sessions) (Mon)
Oct 15, 22, 29, Nov 5, 12, 19, 26, Dec 3, 10, 17

Time: 2pm-4:30pm
Course Fee: $240 ($48 for eligible seniors)

Please bring your own art materials: A4 drawing paper or A4 Sketchbook, a 2B pencil and a kneaded eraser.

Instructor: David Tan
David's passion for the arts was inherited from both his parents; his mother is an accomplished artist in design whilst his father is a Chinese calligrapher. At 12, he scored distinction in his art examination as well as winning the local art competition. He continue to pursue his arts during his adolescence and later graduated from Yuk Choy High School (Art Academy) in Malaysia.

David has a strong grasp of the techniques of pencil-sketching, and believes that when you build and train in these foundational skills, it will help propel you to the next level of art.
